Warm-Air & Radiant Heating

Robur Repairs

Need a Robur repair? When Robur gas warm-air heaters and gas radiant heaters stops working, the cost is felt quickly — cold buildings, no hot water, a kitchen that cannot serve, or a process line that has stopped. We arrange Gas Safe registered commercial engineers to diagnose and repair Robur equipment across London, the M25 towns, Surrey, Kent and the South East, with a focus on finding the real cause rather than swapping parts until something works.

Commercial gas equipment and pipework

Robur faults we diagnose and repair

Below are the faults our engineers most often see on Robur equipment, and how they are approached. Every repair starts with diagnosis: reading fault codes and lockout history, taking gas pressure and combustion readings, and testing the suspect component. That approach avoids the expense of replacing working parts and gets the equipment back in service faster.

Robur equipment is found in a wide range of commercial buildings, and installations vary a great deal — from a single appliance to large multi-unit set-ups with their own controls, flues and gas supplies. Because of that, our engineers look at the whole installation, not just the appliance in front of them: the gas supply, ventilation, flue, controls and electrical supply all affect how well Robur kit performs and how long it lasts.

Common Robur warm-air heater faults

Typical Robur warm-air heater faults include the burner firing but shutting off on overheat, the fan failing to start, ignition failures and noisy bearings. Blocked filters are a common hidden cause of overheat lockouts, as restricted airflow lets the heat exchanger run too hot.

If the heat exchanger is found cracked, the heater must be made safe and left off until it is replaced, because combustion products could enter the space.

  • Overheat limit tripping
  • Fan or motor failure and worn belts
  • Ignition and flame proving faults
  • Cracked or corroded heat exchanger

Common Robur radiant heater faults

On Robur radiant tube systems the most frequent faults are the exhaust fan failing, the vacuum or pressure switch not proving, and ignition problems at the burner. A failed fan on a shared flue can take a whole row of heaters out at once.

Damaged tubes, failed couplers and loose reflectors are also found, often after a forklift strike or roof work nearby.

  • Exhaust fan or vacuum switch failure
  • Burner ignition and flame sensing faults
  • Tube, coupler and reflector damage

How a Robur repair visit works

When you report a fault, tell us the make and model, any fault code displayed, and what the equipment is or is not doing. Photos of the data badge and display help the engineer arrive with the right test equipment and, where possible, the most likely parts.

On site, the engineer makes the area safe, checks the gas supply and electrical supply, and reads any stored fault history. They then test components in a logical order until the cause is confirmed. You are told what has failed, why, and what the repair will cost before any parts are fitted.

Where a part has to be ordered, the appliance is left safe — and where possible in partial operation — while the part is sourced. After the repair, the engineer recommissions the appliance, takes combustion and pressure readings and records the work, so you have a clear record for your maintenance file.

If the engineer finds the appliance is unsafe, it will be classified under the Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure and, if necessary, isolated. That can be inconvenient, but it is a legal requirement that protects your staff and visitors.

Repair or replace your Robur equipment?

Most Robur faults are repairable, and a repair is almost always the cheaper option in the short term. But there comes a point where replacement makes more sense — for example when a heat exchanger or storage vessel has failed, when parts are no longer available for an older model, or when repeated breakdowns are costing more each year than a new unit would.

Our engineers give you an honest view. If replacement is worth considering, you will get the reasons in writing, including likely energy savings from a modern, more efficient appliance, so you can make the decision with the full picture rather than under pressure during a breakdown.

Preventing the next Robur breakdown

Many emergency call-outs could have been avoided with planned maintenance. Once your Robur equipment is back up and running, it is worth booking an annual service so that wearing components are spotted early. Keeping the area around plant and appliances clear, reporting unusual noises or smells promptly, and not repeatedly resetting a lockout without finding the cause will all reduce the chance of a bigger failure.

Who we carry out Robur repairs for

Our customers range from single-site businesses to managing agents responsible for dozens of buildings. On the heating side, that includes office blocks, schools and colleges, churches and community halls, care homes, hotels, leisure centres, warehouses, factories and residential blocks with a shared plant room. Each type of site has its own pressures, and the engineer plans the visit around them.

Facilities managers often need Robur repairs to fit into a wider maintenance programme, with job numbers, purchase orders and reporting in a consistent format. Landlords need records they can hand to tenants and insurers. Business owners mostly want the equipment working with as little disruption as possible. We handle all three, and you can approve quotes, message the engineer and download paperwork from one account.

Single sites and small businesses

If you run one site, you probably do not have a maintenance team. We keep things simple: one clear quote, a confirmed visit time, and a plain-English report afterwards explaining what was done to your Robur equipment and whether anything needs attention.

Multi-site estates and facilities managers

For portfolios, Robur repairs can be scheduled across sites with consistent reporting, so you can see the status of every appliance at a glance. Business customers can apply to pay on invoice against a purchase order.

What to have ready before the engineer arrives

A little preparation makes the visit quicker and keeps costs down. Before the engineer arrives, please:

Information to share when booking

The more the engineer knows in advance, the more likely the job is finished in one visit.

  • The Robur model name and serial number from the data badge
  • How many appliances there are and where they are located
  • Any fault codes, warning lights or unusual behaviour
  • Previous service records or certificates, if available
  • Site access times, parking, permits and any induction requirements

Access on the day

Please make sure the engineer can reach the Robur equipment, the gas meter or emergency control valve and the electrical isolators. Plant rooms should be unlocked and clear of stored items, and roof or high-level access arranged in advance where heaters are mounted overhead. If there is an asbestos register for the building, have it available.

How we work

Every engineer we send is vetted before they join: Gas Safe registration and commercial competencies are checked, insurance is verified and their work is reviewed by customers after each job. You can see the engineer's reviews and compliance status before you accept their quote.

Prices are agreed before work starts, and payments are held securely until the job is complete. If anything goes wrong, our support team is there to help resolve it. This is how we make sure your Robur equipment is looked after properly, every time.

Gas safety, compliance and paperwork

All gas work on Robur equipment is carried out by engineers on the Gas Safe Register with the commercial competencies required for the appliance — for example commercial heating (COCN1, CODNCO1, CIGA1 or ICAEW-type categories as appropriate). You can check any engineer's registration on the Gas Safe Register before they start work.

After each visit you receive a written record of what was checked, the readings taken and any defects found. For heating plant, the service record and any non-domestic gas safety record can be added to your building logbook. These documents help you show your insurer, landlord, environmental health officer or auditor that the equipment is being maintained properly.

Areas we cover for Robur repairs

We arrange engineers across Greater London and the towns around the M25, including Surrey, Kent, Hertfordshire, Essex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Sussex. Commercial sites in central London, business parks, industrial estates, schools, hotels, restaurants and residential blocks with communal plant are all covered.

If your site is just outside these areas, get in touch anyway — we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

Book your Robur repair

Booking is simple. Use the online form to describe the Robur equipment, its location and the work needed, or call 0208 935 5572. You will receive a clear quote before any work is booked, and you can manage the job, messages and paperwork from your account.

We are an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Robur; the brand name is used only to describe the equipment we work on. Our engineers use manufacturer data and genuine or equivalent-quality parts.
